Rendition Europe 2012 - 2018

April 23, 2020

I have long enjoyed traveling to countries across Europe for work and pleasure. Over the past twenty years, the region’s compactness has been a great advantage: within two two‑hour flights—or a short drive or train ride crossing one or two borders—you can reach twenty different countries.

I’m drawn to Europe for its striking contrasts: diverse social cultures, business mindsets, work ethics, and the many ways the same ingredients are transformed in cooking. Differences in daily habits, routines, and political and social philosophies are equally compelling.

I focus on locals through the signs and indicators of everyday life: people, culture, food, and a handful of distinctive buildings, both modern and historical. This travel photography book was published in March 2020 through Blurb and features images made during visits to Europe between 2012 and 2018.

Rendition Japan 2012 - 2015

April 23, 2020

Japan and its people seem mythic to me because of their ability to dissolve themselves into the background or set aside pride when circumstances require it. People in Japan often respond to demands with remarkable, sometimes unquestioning, loyalty and a strong sense of obligation.

I like Japan and its people primarily for the local food, the vastly diverse natural landscapes, and the scenery. This travel photography book was published in November 2019 through Blurb.

Rendition Korean 2012 - 2016

April 23, 2020

I shot all the images in this book in Korea while I lived there for work from February 2012 to March 2016. After 32 years abroad as an immigrant, I had the opportunity to return to my homeland and see how dramatically it had changed.

I was searching for the homeland I once knew and the changes I had missed over many years. This travel photography book was published in February 2019 through blurb.com.
