The journeys with lens

People have always been among my most fascinating subjects to photograph, whether wandering through unfamiliar cities or hiking along quiet countryside trails. Some warmly welcome the camera, while others make their displeasure unmistakably clear. I respect both reactions, as each reveals something about human nature.

What intrigues me most is the untold story behind every face—their thoughts, emotions, experiences, and the lives they lead. Each photograph leaves me wondering what might be going through their minds at that very moment.

The images on this page capture some of these memorable human encounters during my travels through Korea and Japan.

China is a country of remarkable ethnic and cultural diversity, with distinct regional differences in people's appearance, cuisine, traditional clothing, architecture, religious beliefs, and ways of life. Traveling across the country reveals fascinating contrasts shaped by geography, history, and generations of local traditions.

The photographs on this page capture people and everyday life in two contrasting regions of China—the southwest and northeast—offering a glimpse into the rich diversity of their cultures, lifestyles, and traditions.

What draws me most to the people of Southeast Asia is their humility, genuine warmth, and welcoming nature. There is something wonderfully sincere about their smiles, gentle expressions, and the simple kindness they extend to strangers. Even brief encounters often leave me with a lasting sense of human connection, without the need for many words.

These qualities are often reflected naturally in their faces, making everyday people some of my favorite photographic subjects. Through my camera lens, I hope to capture not merely their appearances, but the warmth, dignity, and authentic spirit that make the people of Southeast Asia so memorable.

India is a vast country of extraordinary cultural and geographical diversity, reflected in its people's distinctive clothing, colorful traditional attire, and everyday ways of life. What fascinates me most is the quiet dignity and reserved nature of many locals, who often seem reluctant to reveal their true feelings to strangers. Yet beneath their composed expressions, I have found people who are neither unfriendly nor unwelcoming, but simply more private in expressing their emotions.

The photographs on this page were taken in Jaipur, offering a glimpse of local life and culture. I hope to add images from other regions of India in the future.

Western Europeans seem to share many common values when it comes to social life, personal freedom, and the importance of community. Yet, I find them remarkably different in their individual perspectives, attitudes, and convictions about what is right for them.

What fascinates and often amuses me most is how differently they express their thoughts, emotions, and opinions. Whether through animated conversations, subtle gestures, or spirited disagreements, their personalities come alive in everyday interactions.

Restaurants and sidewalk cafés are particularly enjoyable places to observe these cultural nuances, offering endless opportunities to appreciate and photograph the fascinating diversity of European social life.

The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 brought fear, uncertainty, and confusion into everyday life, revealing both the vulnerability and resilience of American society. Yet, beyond those extraordinary circumstances, what continues to fascinate me is the distinctive character of American people and their way of life.

Americans generally value individual freedom, independence, personal expression, and the pursuit of opportunity. Their openness, optimism, and willingness to engage with strangers are qualities I have long appreciated. At the same time, their strong individualism sometimes creates interesting contradictions between personal interests and collective responsibilities.

As a photographer, I enjoy observing these contrasts in everyday life—from bustling cities and quiet neighborhoods to spontaneous encounters on the streets. America remains a fascinating mosaic of cultures, personalities, and perspectives, constantly evolving while retaining its unmistakable spirit of individuality.
